Amanda Baker
Amanda Baker is originally from Bitburg, Germany, and started the first part of her life moving around as most AirForce/ military families do. Although the transfers happened every couple of years, moving, traveling, and being exposed to multiple cultures as well as traditional ways of thinking, living, and practices were very formative and inspirational. At ten years old the family finally settled in El Segundo, California, a beach suburb of Los Angeles where she lived until moving to Seattle's Eastside in 2010 with her daughter. Nurturing, patient, observant, and thorough are just a few characteristics that contribute to effectively delivering custom massages, freeing the body to do what it does best, heal itself. Amanda grew up engaging in a wide array of sports and physical activities, of course sustaining a few injuries along the way. The rehabilitation process was made easier thanks to having learned about Anatomy, Physiology, and Kinesiology and helping her mother study and test through school to become a Surgical Technologist. She had started training in medical billing/ coding and Physical Therapy before becoming a Massage Therapist, but soon discovered the seemingly endless and time-tested benefits of Massage. After realizing she had massaged friends and family members for years and how it came so naturally, California Healing Arts College was where she chose to enroll in school. They had an amazing curriculum with small class sizes, a Chiropractor that ran our student clinic, and an externship with an owner's spa, she just can't speak positively enough about the staff and program as they prepared, after graduation, she felt ready for every avenue of the industry. Being better known for her consistently deep pressure massages with the local tri-0athleate circuit, but knowing firsthand that underlying issues with the body can have varied symptoms, some require a gentler touch. She was inspired to diversify her massage modality background to offer the most customized, outcome-based body plans to each client. Techniques applied can vary from Deep Tissue, Reiki, Aromatherapy, Swedish, Shiatsu, Oscialltion, Hot/Cold Stone Therapy, and Lomi Lomi just to name a few. The care provided doesn't end with the massage, patients are sent home with stretches, strengthening exercises, and nutritional suggestions to help patients transform the whole person they are, based on the body plans collaboratively made; that is the point of Holistic care after all.
